Thankfulness Nov. 8th

Today, I am thankful for Autumn. Every year, I find myself in awe of how our loving Father has given us such beautiful things to behold. This isn't a beauty that you need to pay for, to decorate your home with. I can sit on the cold concrete of my porch, a cup of coffee in hand, and just take it all in. I don't even live in a particularly attractive place, to be honest. It doesn't matter though, because this worn bit of land is decorated just as prettily as the high-dollar neighborhoods. God is an equal-opportunity decorator, giving the prettiest to all of us, regardless of our net worth.

The fall leaves are like a fun, crunchy snow. They cover all the dirty bits, and give the children something exciting to play with, that won't give them frostbite.  :)  There is wonder in the eyes of the little lambs, experiencing the dry texture of fallen leaves for the first time, the way that they are so easily crushed in their not-so-gentle hands. There is excitement and happiness in the face of my big girl, as she builds a pile of leaves for her brothers, knowing that they can't do it themselves.

I'm thankful for pink cheeks and cold noses, as they are a sweet compliment to a bright smile. Yay for the time of sweaters, hot cocoa, fluffy socks, and bouquets of bold colored leaves.

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Messiah, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
