Today's Question: A King

Something that I've been thinking about, is this:

How does someone who has never been under the rule of one man, and has never in thought or practice seen another person as "above" them, understand what it is to revere a king? More specifically, our King and Ruler of all creation? It's just one of those strange thoughts that has popped into my head, a realization that I don't know what it means to truly been in awe of anything or anyone. I have felt appreciation and gratitude, but what is that *it* that would cause a person to drop to their knees? I can't imagine how Moses must have felt, just looking even upon the back of the Lord as he passed by. I am sure that it must have been something to make one's heart skip a beat, to steal the breath, to leave one utterly overcome. Since I've never been in any situation that is even a weak shadow of that, I have no understanding. It is good to know though, that eventually I will know- when either He comes, or I go.

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Messiah, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
